Ministry: Lembah Subang flats ready for occupation

The Lembah Subang flats are ready for occupation.  These would be the flats on you left if you use the new tunnel towards Puncak Dana.

Increased traffic using the shortcut (exiting onto the LDP) is expected, so be prepared.

THE five blocks of vacant flats in Lembah Subang built under the Public Housing Programme are ready for occupation pending Certificate of Fitness (CF) from the Petaling Jaya City Council.

The Housing and Local Government Ministry, in a written reply to StarMetro, said the flats were ready.
National Housing Department deputy director (PPR Planning and Development) Farhanis Shahida Mohamad, who signed the letter, said the site was safe for occupation.

“Yes, it is safe. From the field measurement that have been done, the concentration of gas field is low and its emission is intermittent.

“The escaped gas will be diluted by air and mixed by the wind. During the day, the dilution and mixing are expected to be faster due to the surface temperature,” she said.

She said the issuance of CF was delayed because MBPJ claimed that the site was not safe due to it previous usage as a dumping area.

In a report recently, concerned residents highlighted the need for comfortable and affordable housing for the hardcore poor.

They urged the relevant authorities to clear the air over the flats for the sake of the community.
The flats have been left vacant for years with rumours going around among nearby residents that the building on a former landfill was unfit for occupation.

The ministry later clarified that the project had been delayed due to the need to engage Universiti Malaya consultants to verify if the site was safe in response to a stop-work order by the Petaling Jaya City Council in 2006.
