Noise from Transmile Hangars
From: Ara Damansara Yahoo Groups
Dear Neighbours
Ahmad Murad, Mary and myself went to YB T. Murugiah’s “complaints clinic” in Sentul at 10am this morning but didn’t get to see him till about 2.45pm. They showed me Elizabeth Wong’s email where she had referred our petition to them (thanks, Elizabeth). Anyway his Dept is organising a meeting on Monday 11 May, tentatively 11am at the Biro Pengaduan Awam (BPA) HQ in Putrajaya and they’re calling all the relevant agencies to be present including Dept of Civil Aviation, Malaysian Airports Berhad, MBPJ, MBSA, Transmile, among others.
WE REALLY NEED YOUR SUPPORT – do try and come for this meeting as the more of us are present, the more they will listen. 3 people is really a miserable number. I’ve given them 3 phone nos. – Ahmad Murad’s, Mary’s and mine – to call once they’ve confirmed arrangements. Please mark the date in your diaries and show those %$#*@ we mean business!! We really need to put an end to all this once and for all – and also stop the helicopter overflights which are downright dangerous. They test the ‘copters after repairs and maintenance by flying over our roofs, and if something isn’t properly repaired, well, oops – what’s a damaged house or ten??? This shows pretty careless disregard for human lives and discomfort as well.
I’ll send another email once I know the finalised arrangements – and also SMS those with mobile nos. that I have.
Many thanks in advance for your support.
Regards,
Philip

Dear Sirs
We, the undersigned residents of Ara Damansara in Petaling Jaya, would like to draw your attention to the high levels of noise originating from the Transmile aircraft hangars of Subang Airport. The noise has reached unbearable levels over the last 2-3 months, and we are even experiencing late night/early morning take-offs/landings, testing of jet engines and helicopter overflights. Saturday and Sunday (25th and 26th April 2009) were particularly bad as jet engine testing and helicopter overflights were very frequent throughout the day, depriving us of our rest. In addition, we could even smell aircraft fuel on Sunday 26th April.
Despite reassurances from Malaysia Airports Berhad officials in a 2007 meeting we had with them, that the Transmile hangar operations would not disturb the peace, we have been woken up by early morning/late night flights and jet engine testing from the Transmile hangars. MBPJ was supposed to look into our complaints but this does not appear to have been the case (ref. attached letter of 25 May 2007 from the BPA). The developers of Ara Damansara were also asked to erect sound barriers but this has not been done.
We are interested to note that YB T. Murugiah stated recently (ref. attached article) that there should be a 3.5km buffer zone between commercial and residential areas. Our houses are only 500m from the Transmile hangars and helicopter workshops.
We spoke to YB T. Murugiah on 29 April 2009 and he has asked for this to be forwarded to him.
We hope that a lasting solution can be found to this problem as we cannot be expected top write to authorities every few months whenever noise reaches unbearable levels. We would appreciate it if you could acknowledge receipt of this email.

Ahmad Murad Abdul Rahman

DON’T LIKE noise from airports/hangars? Then DON’T LIVE near airports/air bases/hangars. What is wrong with you all?
Please share your anguish with people who lived around Subang airport since it was BUILT decades ago. Also, tell it to people who live near airports in Sepang (KLIA & LCCT), Penang, Senai (Johor), Ipoh (Perak), K.Terengganu, Pengkalan Chepa (Kelantan), Bt. Berendam (Melaka), Alor Setar (Kedah), Kuantan (Pahang), Sarawak & Sabah, etc, etc and Royal Air Force bases in Sg. Besi, Kepala Batas (Kedah), Butterworth (S.Perai), Kuantan (Pahang), etc.
Tell the King (yeah, he’s just a ceremonial monarch, so why not eh?) not to take off on the Royal flight whenever you or your family members are at home, enjoying some peace and serenity. Tell the same to the PM (who flies on Malaysia 1 or sometimes, that giant RMAF aircraft), the RMAF pilots and those people who want to go to Pulau Redang/Kapas/Pangkor on Berjaya Air. Their flights’ noises disturb your teh tarik session or wifi-ing time at Restoran Kapitan, right?
Tell the aircraft servicing companies at Subang not to service and/or test-fly their customers’ (local and international) aircrafts whenever you are trying to get some sleep after a long day of golfing or making babies. The economy can do without the millions that industry contribute in terms of Government income, employment to locals, supporting industry, etc.
Oh wait, the same goes with people who want to use FireFly from Subang. Tell them that your babies are asleep and therefore please, oh please leave for your vacation in Pulau Langkawi later when my baby is awake and playing with me.
All of you are pathetic. You, yes YOU too mustn’t use any airline/aircraft/helicopter because you WILL disturb the peace of people living around the landing strip, tarmac or helipad. It doesn’t matter if they are not officially complaining (anymore). You still create noise by your usage.
Clowns.
