Sime Darby wired Ara Damansara for CCTV

Reported by HN:

Attached are 4 pages of a letter I received this morning from Sime Darby Property Berhad for your information.

page-1page-2map-1map-2

It mentions the upgrading of the landscape around the large park, the renaming of areas around Ara Damansara and the cabling works for the CCTV.

This is the best I can do with my camera.  Should anyone want to view the original, do feel free to ring my doorbell at 7 PJU 1A/23.

which park? the big one near to Attillia or the small park near the Semi-D. They distributed a similar leaflet some months ago on re-landscaping the pathetic park at the Semi-D but nothing has happened. They can’t even share with us the plan. The project for the surveillance camera somehow got a higher priority, I suspect, to rush for their gated bungalow/Semi-D launch.

According to the letter and the map, they are referring to the large part near Attilia. The letter was hand delivered to the guard for my attention. I never got any earlier leaflet.

I wonder what is the objective of the CCTV? where would the monitor station be located? whom would be monitoring the CCTV? Hope its not just put in place for the sake of marketing and branding.

  • Hannah

From what i’ve been told, the monitoring station will be at the Ara Damansara police station. The CCTV is for security but will also record traffic offences.

How is it that these communications are only handed to a few enclaves? Seemingly the later phases. The earliest phase PJU 1A/22-30 is always left out of the communications. Any ideas as to how this can be rectified?

How are you Angeline? Sorry, no idea. You can ask at the Sime Darby office at The Gallery. The lady I usually speak to is Mimi. She is trying to gather the RA contacts.

CCTV is meant for detering as well as solving crimes, the latter also reinforces the deterrence of future crimes. At the end of the day, deterrence is what we all want. This can only be achieved if aspiring criminals know that crimes around here have been solved by the CCTVs when sometimes they really do. CCTV footing of crimes and arrest should be broadcast over news, and reported in papers. CCTV technology plays a powerful crime deterrence only when everyone believes it is one. My point is support and service for these gadgets is just as important as their installations if we truly hope to benefit from using them.

hi angeline.dev, is there any resident association for the phases?

  • Hi admin
There is a collective one for roads 24 – 32 but it’s pretty much defunct as we have agreed we will manage our own enclaves i.e. Embun, Bayu etc independently with regards to security services. I understand there is much to benefit from having our own RA. Will work on it. But for the time being, I am the administrator for Embun (1A/24), and I believe Sunny Nah is the administrator for Bayu (1A/26). No idea about enclaves Pelangi (1A/28), Mutiara (1A/30), Claremont (1A/32).

Both Sunny and I will be glad to receive notifications of meetings with authorities regarding the welfare of Ara Damansara residents. Really appreciate being kept in the loop.
