One way Traffic from 4th January 2010, are we going to do something about it?
Just to inform all readers and residents of Ara Damansara that it is less than a month before the lines are drawn, sign boards are up and there is no turning back. Do inform others to raise their opinion here.
A mail I received:

“I am concerning the above matter which will be enforced on 4 Jan 2010. At this present moment, off course we did not feel the traffic jam due to school holiday. I can imagine once the school reopen next year, we will suffer badly if the NZX tunnel to be converted to single traffic. I think most of us are using the new FAS tunnel to return to Ara (with no choice unless use NKVE and pay toll). However, I find that certain stretch of this road cause bottleneck and sometimes the traffic can be started right from the small roundabout towards the Puncak Nusa condominium. To come out from the short distance may easily spend 15 to 20 minutes.
This morning, I called MBPJ and talked to one of the officer incharge. He told me any objections or suggestions can be make to MBPJ Pengarah before the enforcement date. The name of the new Pengarah is En Abdul Shukor. I have called some residents from Crimson and hope that they could joint Ara Residents to voice out our concerns at MBPJ Pengarah’s office. The officer also told me that they are going to draw some line on the road and put up the signage before end of this month. I really hope that other taman residents can group together to meet the Pengarah before this matter turned worst.”
My question is therefore back to MBPJ:
1) When are they going to open up the Tropicana link for us? If they have set a date to make the tunnels to one way traffic, are there any date that the tropicana link is going to be opened up for us?
2) Are there any statistical reports or traffic study (if there is any that is conducted) to show that by making the tunnels into 1 way direction will actually ease the jam?
3) If Taman Mayang MAS can decide to close the road for security purpose, can we close the tunnel to do the same?

Dear Residents,
We have to make our voices heard. Just because of complaints from Taman MAS residents all of us are going to suffer in future. By turning the road into 1 way, it is going to take 30 minutes to reach home from Kelana Jaya MC. The value of the property here will definitely nosedive. Let us engage our RAs of all Ara Damansara, Crimson Apartment and others to write in. We can easily get 3,000 signatures. However I feel that only protest like the one organised by Bandar Utama residents will create an impact. Even if we can gather 20% of our residents, it can easily overwhelm Taman MAS resident. Let’s protect our basic rights to use Public Roads. Taman MAS is not a private land. Come on!!
I think it is only fair to make the NZX tunnel ONE WAY after open the Tropicana access road.
Some months back, MBPJ engaged a traffic consultant to study the traffic problems in our area and I believe the proposed 1 way traffic at NZX tunnel came out from that study. In fact, more than a year back, I made a comment that one way traffic may be the answer to the traffic woes. Your Q3 is asked with emotions. We don’t want this to happen for very obvious reasons.
It is standard procedure that the public is invited for feedback on any developments but let’s be realistic, the decision is already made and no amount of “talking” will help unless you are some YB that has the influence.
The cause of the present jam is the T junction near the bridge. Installing a traffic light will help but this is unlikely. Stationing a traffic warden will also help but do they care? Lastly, opening the Ara-Idaman link will definitely help but nobody is championing this.
Hi, I am wong from D’aman Ria RA.
It all starting from the flash flood condition at the NZX tunnel.
When Public Complaint Bureau made arrangement with all involving parties to conduct a site visit pertaining the issue, Tmn Megas Mas RA joined in and take the advantage to made the proposal to close the tunnel.
Upon knowing the situation, D’aman Ria RA has invited D’aman Crimson RA, Puncak Nusa Kelana RA & Atilia RA to be involved in the feedback sessions since last year.
Our ADUN, MP, MBPJ city councillors and MBPJ officers has been invited to D’aman Ria to conduct a meet the rakyat session by Subang MP. It causes massive jam as the session was held on Thursday 8pm. RAs from surrounding housing areas including D’aman Crimson & Kelana Idaman were invited, except us!
The result from these sessions were the engagement of a traffic consultant to provide a macro traffic study to link east & west side of NKVE. The report was completed and the presentation was done in mid of year 2009.
There are a total of 4 tunnels along within MBPJ, two of them are at Lembah Subang. 3 short term proposals & 1 long term proposal were presented.
1. NZX tunnel
– to level up by 2-3 feets
– to reduce the slope
– to convert into 1 way, from Lembah Subang only
2. Jln Emas 2, starting from tunnel towards the bridge
– to convert to 1 way, from Lembah Subang only
– to create buffer zone for resident to park, enter & exit, by reserving at least half of the road for them.
3. widening of the road leading to FAS tunnel from Rapid KL HQ
– to expand the road into 4 lanes, by using the river reserve
4. overhead bridge near FAS tunnel
– long term proposal
– to link Subang Airport road with LDP via a overhead bridge near Kelana Idaman
We are unsure of the final decision from MBPJ.
But, there is rumour that MBPJ wants to demolish the 1st row of terrace house at Jln Emas 2. They are currently negotiating with the owners.
Rgds
Dear all,
below is the news clip from theStar on the traffic study report
http://thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?file=/2009/2/27/central/3289907&sec=central
Road from leading to FAS tunnel from RapidKL should definately be upgraded into 4 lanes from existing 2 lanes. I hope MBPJ can expediete work on this matter soonest as the trafic has definately increased and is expected to rise if they build the flyover NKVE to Subang Airport road.
