Mayor wants link to open by next month

PETALING JAYA mayor Datuk Mohamad Roslan Sakiman wants the developer to open the road linking Ara Damansara and Tropicana by the end of January.
The link is still closed despite an order last month from the Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to open it to ease traffic congestion at the much debated Jalan Tanjung.

Under an injunction, the road was to remain closed pending the completion of the Tropicana Tunnel, following strong objections from Tropicana residents.
Roslan confirmed that the injunction had been lifted and all legal matters were supposed to have been solved.
But the problem is, the road is in a bad condition and the developer needs four months to complete the repair work.
Road plan submitted by the developer had been approved and the company was also to meet nearby developers to discuss other matters.
“How do you expect the residents to wait for four months for the road to be opened?”
“The festive season is here and the relevant parties have to expedite it as it is a crucial situation we are facing here,” he said during a press conference after the Petaling Jaya City Council’s full board meeting yesterday.
This, and other road issues, made the council’s engineering department the target of criticism from councillors during the meeting.
The councillors expressed regret that the department tasked to monitor the contractors had actually gave in to their excuses for the delay in progress.
They highlighted the situation at the Lembah Subang tunnel connecting Ara Damansara and Taman Megah Mas, which would be closed until Jan 4 for upgrading work.
“There had been many delays, and the work is only 20% complete now.
“Can the contractor be sure that the tunnel be reopened before school starts?” asked councillor Tiew Way Keng.

Mayor please be vigilant in this issue..the jam is pretty bad as you know contractors will delay all they can so they can make more money..I hope that Tropicana link road can be openned ASAP to help relieve congestion!
Yes Mayor…. Tropicana link must be open ASAP to ease the pain of single lane traffic from LDP all the way to Lembah Subang… The traffic will be getting worse once school start…
also when road open..hopefully all the loitering foreigners will move sumwhere else…btw will i be able to access the Mc Donald from PETRONAS station via Idaman road…? think can park there but have to walk over thru the fence…
GOt McDonalds? I thought that McDonalds and Petronas is in NKVE?
yup thats the one im refering too my friend…u could access it by foot thru the gate at the tropicana link…cannot drive there one lah…
Any update on this? No news? It is now February already……….
anyone got current pics..hows the progress work on this stretch?
M looking fwd to this as well where One U will be a stone’s throw away!!!!! Apparently the residents of Tropicana are not happy abt the road opening!!
No update in this. Despite the Mayor’s promise, nothing is happening.
we should gather and force them to open immediately…. !
funny it seems even mayor’s request not heeded..if he cant make a difference..can lowly resident like us expect to have an impact?
Riz, let’s not underestimate rakyat’s power. :p
Cause that is the reason why it is not open until today, despite mayor’s instruction.
aha..so it seems there maybe some rakyat whom want it closed then? and they have been quite effective in this too it seems…
ummm… True enough that Rakyat Power..! seems like this side of the Rakyat is not powerful enough to push the link to open… in fact the other side of the Rakyat has more money power ya? -.-?
hey guys, when it comes to “rakyat” the more is better than the few!! lets make our voice be heard..more means more vote for d politicians maa..
I wonder if Mayor has put this task as one of his 2010 KPIs…
A lot of ppl seems to be very disappointed with this. Strange thing is, Ara damansara resident rather accept the fact that they need to de-tour to Kelana Jaya tunnel to reach One-U or Ikea, instead of taking more aggresive action.
Like how? street protest? not that easy though, no one even care bout this 2.
mid of March 2010…..
and counting…….
hi Clarence , what do u mean ?
mid of March 2010…..
and counting…….
So what now!? End of March I’m seeing… How many months been past and do not see any movement on the road….
dun put expectation on this.. the link wont be opened..!
Frankly, i am quite pissed with this.
Feel free to call the mayor himself to follow up: 03-79577194, mroslan@mbsa.gov.my
Or you may call the engineering department head (kind of), En. Jeremy: 03-79587663
Forget about that email add. It does not work. The phone does.
According to engineering dept, Mah Sing and TA property has come to agreement to award the work 2 weeks back. It should be done in 3 months time.
Well, if nothing happen, let’s just with this ppl again.
wow! if true, this is the best news! 3 months? no problem, I can wait.
yipee! according to above comment, new link completion date is June 22nd 2010! keep your fingers crossed folks!
Called Encik Fauzi at 03-7958 4221.
He is the person overseeing this project.
According to him, TA and Mah Sing has agreed and supposed to start the project soon. Anyone can confirm this?
It will take about 2-3 months to complete the work.
Finally…………………..
I think before we can estimate the completion date, we must find out if they have begun work, or merely agreed to start soon.
I have written an email to mroslan, asking for more transparency, suggesting sign be put up on the road to update progress, a common sight in many countries.
I still dont hear from them after 2 days, but I am not surprised.
Let’s not relent and forget about this soon.
Hopefully this is good news…this morning I saw a tractor working around there. I walked over in the afternoon and asked one guy who told me that work indeed has just began. I took a pic but don’t know how to post it here. I pray that tomorrow the tractor still there.
good work guys..lets keep at it…check and let them know we are waiting etc..
Excellent. lets make sure they open the new link…
Excellent! Another way is to cut and paste the article on The Star and lodge it as a report online with MBPJ to remind them of the Mayor’s commitment. Have done that and encourage more to join in to tell MBPJ and the Mayor that the people mean business.
i saw this morning that there r some constructions at tropicana side ..dunno this is related to the ara-tropicana link?
keep pushing folks…enquire on the current status to the people in charge..let them know of the upcoming stampede..!
anyone can post pics here of the current status>
Don’t quite know how to post pic.I do took some pics as I went there very often. The progress has been encouraging. More bulldozers are working during the day. Yesterday, a number trailers were around unloading concrete stuff (look like for the drain). They are in the process of putting up a sign board near Taipan 1.
hopefully this time wouldn’t let us down again. think logically, only 1 tunnel can access to ara, does it enough to accommodate the residents here? not to talk about the future opening of previous Fas football field converted to commercial office and the low cost apartment right after the tunnel. an optional access to ara definitely can ease half of the traffic congestion especially during peak hours.
I was at the location yesterday afternoon. Saw two excavators and a compactor, some concrete pipe culverts (for drainage). The signboard has also been put up. The developer was TA and contractor YHF. However the completion date was not stated.
Spoke to two workers (either machine operators or site supervisors)and was informed that the work is due to be completed end of this month. Guess this time it must be for real that the road linking Ara Damansara to Damansara Idaman and Lagenda Putera would be built. However whether the authority would open it is another issue.
After this road is link, our next target should be to get the authority (MBPJ) to install a signalised (traffic light)junction at the intersection of Jalan PJU 1A/4 and Jalan Lembah Subang, ie. the road leading from the FAS tunnel to Jalan Lembah Subang. This intersection is the cause of the current traffic congestion at FAS tunnel.

I can’t post pics, even with HTML tags. please copy the link and paste on your browser’s address bar.
the shop owners of Taipan (facing this road) should also join in the cry for completion of this access road as im sure this impact their business…
