In second quarter last year, some residents received a notice in their postbox that a multimillion exercise will be undertaken to upgrade our recreational parks. In that exercise (originally to start in August), the pathetic state of the ponds will be rehabilitated and hundreds more trees will be planted. August came and gone just like the fallen leaves of Autumn. In November, like the arrival of Spring, we witnessed planting activities of hundreds of trees. Yet the ponds remain like frozen lakes in Winter. During this period, thick undergrowth has sprouted and the stagnant pools of water became fertile grounds for our annoying and sometimes deadly blood suckers.
We heard stories that the excavators are on their way yet we were disappointed over and over again. Now finally… and hopefully, we won’t be disappointed once again!
