Traffic problem merely diverted to another area

I REFER to your story “Caught unawares — Taman Megah Mas side of tunnel is now a one-way street”.
Converting the tunnel to one way is not a solution. The traffic is now diverted to the new FAS tunnel which also leads to the new residential area.
The authorities are just diverting the problem to another area. Ever since the old tunnel was converted to one-way, the whole stretch of road from the FAS tunnel to Jalan PJU1A/46 (cross junction) has become congested with a long queue during peak hours.
Another problem is that many roads in Taman Mayang and Taman Mayang Mas have been closed to the public. What if residents in the FAS tunnel area complain about the congestion in their residential area? Will the authorities close the FAS tunnel, too, or convert it into one way?
Also, there are many potholes along the FAS tunnel but nothing has been done. The authorities take ages to mend potholes in Petaling Jaya.
The authorities should come and look at the traffic during peak hours. Many motorists and motorcyclists sending their children to SMK Lembah Subang are at risk, especially at the cross junction.

Yeah I agree with u. Making the Megah Mas tunnel didn’t at all solve the problem. It has only worsen the traffics. Some people are just being selfish! And don’t the authorities have some common sense? Have they really done a thorough feasibility studies before deciding on the one way conversion? I hope our AD residents have some influential figures to revert the solution.
The immediate solution is to divert the problem to Tropicana, this can be done when the Tropicana link is open. Let the Tropicana and BU residents to make complains, I guess it will be more effective since all the politicians resides there. Ara Damansara have got no voice for now.
On the flip side, because the powerful figures are all there, they will do whatever to delay the opening.
i think we can just give up or forget about opening of the tropicana link… since have talk for so long already..also done nothing to it…
Organise another protest at the link to Tropicana, get as much people to participate, ask all the reporter to come, make lots of noice until people pay attention…we want the tropicana link open NOW!
that useless… even the MB also voice out to ask the authority to open the link.. but no 1 bother about it… .
If we want the link to open asap, pls call this number. This is Menteri Besar Selangor office number : 55447000 and look for Puan Norzaitun or Puan Rahimah….If each of us call them daily, I think the link will be opened very soon..pray and pray…
most important thing here is we must have a high ranking people in AD to help us to voice up….. if normal residential people here.. nobody will entertain… just like tropicana overthere..have so many VIPss.. which is powerful enough to stop and delay the opening
I thought got politician staying in AD?
By now we all know that the Jalan PJU1A/46 cross junction is the main cause of traffic congestion and long queue during peak hours. From my observation, the contributing factors to this problem are:
1. Motor vehicles approaching the Jalan PJU1A/46 junction from all directions are slowing down cautiously and as result restraining a smooth flow of traffic.
2. Heavy traffic volumes heading to Ara Damansara from FAS tunnel and whilst approaching the Jalan PJU1A/46 junction are required to give way to lighter traffic volumes coming from their left and right direction. This eventually cause a massive traffic build up from behind, turning it into a crawl.
A simple solution to this problem is by installing a traffic light system which can disperse traffic properly and orderly according traffic volume. Accidents can also be prevented at this very dangerous junction.
Do the authorities know this and will they try this simple solution?
Yes, this is one of the short term recommendations from the traffic study. I have written to MBPJ asking when they plan to do it, still waiting to hear from them.
Details of the traffic study.

Some of the proposed solutions sound good. Lets keep our fingers crossed! Also I was thinking, Sime Darby could do something about this, couldn’t they?
How about we get our excavator to flatten the gravel bump and tear down the hoarding next to the idaman guard house? Even without surfacing, i think the road is still usable when it has been levelled!
Looks like we are getting use to the daily queue-up from round-a-bout to Jalan PJU1A/46 cross junction while outsider using the shortcut from Jalan Subang to LDP are enjoying an un-interupted ride every evening.I wonder it’s fair and acceptable to Ara Damansara resident.Furthermore,we are starting to inconvenience resident of Kelana Idaman and it’s a matter of time before they will also protest.
I have suggested before to install a traffic light system as a solution and Mr Leeyk did reply that he has written and still waiting to hear from MBPJ.I think it’s time that we take some action before the situation deteriorates.
Personally I don’t think the traffic lights is a good solution, it’s better to widening the road, at least 2 lanes from the tunnel towards Aara Damansara.
But the best solution is still maintain the Tmn Emas tunnel as 2 ways, flatten the road bumps near the Tmn Emas tunnel (4 bumps in 35 meters is ridiculous)so that traffic is smoother.
Further more open the Tropicana Link to further reduce the traffic in both tunnels.
Agree with Vince. I have lodged a report with MBPJ on those ridiculuos and illegal speed humps. Their reply is that they are looking into it. Would encourage all road users to lodge their complains and dissatisfaction on those speed humps with MBPJ online.
To whom it may concern..open the Tropicana Link ASAP…this initiative timeline is already expired a long time ago..what are authorities thinking???? Please follow up on your promises!
traffic getting worst during peak hour, takes abt 30 minutes to reach ara damansara
let’s pray hard for the opening of the Ara Tropicana link…
nataliet, totally agree. Some times the jam even starts at the FAS tunnel. We must pray for the Tmn Emas Tunnel to be 2 way again as well. ^_^
I think Ara Residents should do something in order to wait miracles to happen. We should take turn to call MBPJ to tell them our frustration. Last Monday, it took me 30 minutes from FAS tunnel back to Ara. Lets discuss how to convert the tunnel to both way again.
Guys, I think to revert the tunnel back to both way will be very difficult: sometimes authorities will not budge on their decision once it is implemented..better to focus on opening Tropicana Link and widening Jalan PJU 1A/4A..by the way is there any indication when the flats (after FAS tunnel) will be open? as this will impact trafic in a big way to Jalan PJU 1A/4A..I believe there should be a new wide road constructed linking the flats to the Subang Airport road directly..
