Something’s brewing next to Petronas
I walk the pedestrian lane stretching from Petronas to PJU 1A/3 traffic light +junction every morning. Yesterday I noticed some wood piled on the pedestrian walk.
This morning, the wood has been assembled into a tent and some workmen have made it into their temporary home. As I walked by this morning, I could see some coils of cable and the workmen wearing yellow Phua-Chu-Kang boots being busy in the belukar. One of those mini piling machines has also been installed.
No signboard has been put up describing the work that is in progress there. Anyone knows what to expect from the development of this site?

I have seen similar activity on the other side of the river near Kelana Idaman but no tent
Could be cable laying ??
All the activity has ceased and evidence disappeared. I guess they’ve finished whatever they had to do. Which was what I wonder?
Something is indeed brewing on the land next to Petronas. Just about 5 metres before the Petronas entrance, MBPJ has put up a board to notify the nearby land owners that a proposal for development has been received at the office.
At the top of my mind, and if I remember correctly the proposal is to build one 11 and one 13 storey commercial building, one serviced apartment of 320 units and 3 basement levels for parking places. Can’t remember the rest.
Now, what I am worried is that this road will be inundated with vehicles parked haphazardly on the side like what happens in all major developments in PJ. I doubt that there will be enough parking spaces for 320 units since many households these days has two vehicles. It is a whole different story if the developer assigns 2 parking bays for each unit for FREE. Otherwise – we will see many vehicles parked at the kerb, only to inconvenience other road users. Looks like we may only have smooth traffic flow for the next 4 years or so.
Back to the Papan Kenyataan – any protest to the proposal must be addressed to MBPJ and reaches there no later than 6 July 2010 – so the papan says.
The proposed development is good for the shops esp along 1A/20 but bad for the residents. There will be 3 towers, 2 office blocks and one 14 storey apartment. There will be space for some retail shops between the towers.
