Nightmare at Kelana Idaman

I am a resident of Taman Kelana Idaman, Jalan PJU 1A/ 4C. On July 21, 2008, a tunnel connecting the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) to the Subang Airport Road was opened. This access road runs through my residential area.
With the conversion of Jalan Emas 2 tunnel to a one-way street, this FAS tunnel (which is two-way) is currently the main access road for residents in Ara Damansara, Crimson Damansara, Taman Mayang, Taman Megah Mas and Taman Emas. It is also the main access for road users from Petaling Jaya who use the LDP to go to Subang Jaya, USJ, Sungai Buloh, Kampung Melayu Subang and Shah Alam via the Subang Airport Road.
Previously, the Jalan Emas 2 tunnel caused traffic chaos for Taman Megah Mas residents. It is truly unfair that the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) hopes that this two-way FAS tunnel will be an effective solution. Isn’t this transferring a problem from one residential area to another?
Now, Taman Kelana Idaman residents are experiencing the same issues that Taman Megah Mas residents had faced in the past seven years including a rise in accidents due to a lack of speed bumps and heavy vehicles passing through the neighbourhood as there is no height barrier.
I dare not take my child out to the nearby park as the excessive traffic and exhaust fumes will do more damage than good.
MBPJ is well aware of our situation but has turned a blind eye. Ours is a new neighbourhood and consists mainly of young families.
When we approached MBPJ to at least put up speed bumps for our safety, we were told to obtain signatures from all the residents in our taman and the surrounding areas. With full-time jobs and children to look after, who would have the time and capacity to do so? Does MBPJ require a fatality before considering the construction of a speed bump?
Earlier, our pro-tem Kelana Idaman Residents Association had sent a proposal to MBPJ to build an alternative route for the tunnel access road to go around Kelana Idaman instead of through it. They responded by saying that they were conducting a traffic study and the only result that we have seen so far has been the conversion of the Jalan Emas 2 tunnel to one way. This has made our traffic situation worse!
Although we were made aware of the tunnel when purchasing the house, it was not reflected in the plan that the main road would be running through our housing area. We had expected MBPJ as the local authority to be more responsible in handling this issue.
Over the past year, many calls were made to MBPJ hotline. Even calls to MBPJ director of public complaints have been made but all these efforts proved futile. What do we need to do to be treated fairly as law-abiding taxpayers?
I look forward to a concrete and positive reply from MBPJ, for a change. I hope MBPJ will do something for us Taman Kelana Idaman residents.

Everytime when I passing by FAS tunnel, I felt really sorry to the residents of Taman Kelana Idaman. I must say, the road study are useless. Idiot will know that open both tunnel reduce traffic. To be frank, I horn all my way when I drive through the one way tunnel from Taman Megah Mas to Ara Damansara. I am the few who still insist going through that tunnel to show that the justice is there.
From the action of MBPJ showing that is this a crony case? Peace and safety of Taman Emas is given priority while not the Kelana Idaman Residents? Taman Emas resident is “gold” while Kelana Idaman Residents is what?
I strongly protest the closer of FAS tunnel, I will give way to the resident who is driving opposite direction to pass first when I see any car waiting at opposite!
The conversion of Jalan Emas 2 tunnel(NZX tunnel)to one way traffic is not only a SILLY move but a safety threat to all law abiding road users who have to face the risks of head on collision caused by by those road users who refuse to obey the one way traffic system. If MBPJ really cares for the safety of law abiding road users, they should revert the NZX tunnel back to a two way system as before immediately. The one way traffic system is obviously a flop and to keep it if not stupid then what?
I have a feeling the same thing will happen on the now-building new road that link Ara Damansara and Tropicana. The resident there will try all their best to close the road, or make funny road hump, or have some good-for-nothing-security-guard that make life of people passing there difficult. Well, I must say, it is always interesting to count how many hump one have to go through to get to LDP. If it is not a competition of who is the road hump builder champion, then what else?
To stress, we are ready for any head on collision that is soon or later to take place at NZX Tunnel. We have never agreed to turn NZX to one way. To those who is behind this stupiest decision of turning it one way, take your long road route to SJMC and have a brain scan, it helps you to check if there is any straw inside.
I am always amazed how MBPJ works. Here, they are so quick in putting up the humps with signage and yet they drag their feet in installing a set of traffic lights at the T-junction. To fix the present woes, that’s all they need to do.
That’s because 3 traffic lights costs much more than 4 road humps and 8 road signs!
what can we do to change this??
