Ara’s Seven Dwarfs

August is really a very exciting month here in Ara. We had our very first social gathering last Saturday August 14th and 3 days later, we had Santa TA dropping by giving us a very generous sack of precious stones.
Just about when the excitement has died down, we received a letter from the post informing us that over three thousand people plan to setup their new homes here.
Don’t you feel proud that our land here is well sought after?

What shall we do now? Shall we welcome them with open arms?

hi LeeYK,
is this the same project as the one next to Petronas that is said to be put on hold? I think we should say “no”. Already the traffic congestion is unbearable, the Tropicana link uncertain to be open and this will just worsen. Shall we be selfish with our Ara Damansara?
Would like to correct the term ‘put on hold’ coined by the Star for the Villamas project next to Petronas. The proposal is going through due process of receiving objections/opinions from neighbouring residents and MBPJ as approving authority is only going through the motions of hearing us out & making a decision after the hearing(s) and is NOT ‘put on hold’ per say.
So don’t be too happy. I think this proposal is on the land previously occupied by Puspakom at the traffic junction.
Ara Damansarians should all stand up to MBPJ to say that we do not want high densities, high rises and massive traffic jams on our doorstep everyday. We are all ‘shell-shocked’ from the daily grind of traffic, noise, air pollution, etc; when we step out of AD to go into the city, SJ, PJ, Puchong, etc; and all we want is our little sanctuary called AD to come home to. If you treasure this gem we have here in AD, pls object to massive, inappropriate developments.
fully agreed. we need to organize another signature campaign very quickly. We need volunteers to lead this.
I think we should object this development. Not to say that we are selfish resident but development should come with proper plan. When the proper access road construction is defined as “long-term” plan for Ara Damansara, how can MBPJ continue to approve this kind of residential project in this area?
Agree that we should object.
Apparently there is an informal meeting scheduled to be held with our ADUN on 20/08 Friday 9.00pm @ Kapitan to discuss/highlight our community concerns and problems. We shall bring this issue up on that day and proceed from there. Please do drop by on that date to support this matter ie. our objection to the development.
Time is of essence here, we need to get the letter drafted soonest (shouldn’t be a problem since we already have a previous sample), and get the signiture campaign started. Hopefully, this time around, we can get more than the previous campaign to show solidarity and one voice objecting to the high density development.
Remember 30.08.2010 is the deadline to submit our objection…
So… LETS GET CRACKING !!
Let’s not blow hot and cold and show that we are a bunch of selfish people. Or are we? We want everything and stop at nothing to get it even though it may be borderline illegal but not willing to share anything
I don’t understand your cryptic message. We are not selfish folks. We spent hundred of thousands or even millions to buy a home and this neighbourhood is almost the perfect sanctuary. Building a 7 blocks 15 storey here and another 3 blocks of 12 storey there is a bit like you buying a house next to a 24hour eatery on one side and a red light motel on the other. How do you like living in such a house?
Like it or not, the “almost perfect sanctuary” was from the very beginning a temporary refuge at best — developers are in the business to make money (period), ie, when a neighbourhood becomes “hot”, it will draw all kinds of new development, good and bad. In fact, when I bought my property here 3 or 4 years ago, one of the selling points highlighted was that AD was potentially the “New Sri Hartamas” (read: blocks and blocks of high-rise, swanky eateries and all kinds of vibrant nightlife options). I must clarify that I chose to move here not because of this, but despite of it. Still, I believe leeyk has every right to be mad over the rate at which new projects are being pursued; but such sentiments ironically are not unlike that which drove the guy to dig trenches at the Tropicana link, presumably to protect his own “almost perfect sanctuary”.
Your are so right T-pot. The only difference perhaps is that the guy who dig the trenches is perfectly entitled to do so as he is the contractor building the link but who are we to stop the development if they are carried out in accordance with the law. Mad we can be but can we tear them down when they are built?
This should have been be on a different track but let me say it here anyway. The developer is highly irresponsible in digging the trenches and dumping the gravel. For those of us whose cars were damaged and the motorcyclist who was injured, can we claim damages from the developer? There was a court injunction on the developer to stop work and it should have remained as that: halt the works. Digging the trench and not putting up any warning signs has created a hazard endangering public safety. Didn’t they think of that? It was fortunate there was no casualty, what if someone got killed?
As for the RA who put up the court injunction, didn’t they realize this link is in the blueprint before they spent millions buying their bungalows? Or is it because they are so damn rich that they think they can flex their muscles?
The meeting will take place tonight at KAPITAN around 9.00om. I have informed Encik Khairul Anuar (MBPJ Councillors)and he may attend the meeting. Should he absence tonight, the meeting will proceed as usual. The proposal must reach him latest next week Tuesday. Guys, I need at least one or two representatives from each phases to attend tonight meeting.
Pls confirm your attendance if possible. Mr. CPLim and Mr Philip Wong, I hope you could attend tonight meeting.
We are not being selfish. We want, deserve & demand quality of life. We do not object to developments if they are sustainable and contribute to improving the quality of lives. Proper planning should be done on a macro scale, taking into account resulting traffic & its ease of dispersal, noise pollution, air pollution, etc; & not on an individual lot basis. We are living in the suburbs & I believe this is exactly what we want: suburbia & not city living.
Why is it that when you visit Singapore & Australia for example, you feel totally relaxed & stress-free? That’s because proper planning had/is being done, with proper buffers, with stringent enforcement, with people’s well-being utmost in mind. Why can’t we have it here?
Do we want uncontrolled development that in just a couple of year’s time will develop into a congested, messy area with a mix of run-down looking apartments, cars all over the place OR an upmarket area like the low-rise commercial areas eg. Kota Damansara. Do we want the messiness of Mont Kiara really? Property prices may be sky high there (btw, we’re not doing too badly ourselves currently) but at the end of the day, don’t you just want to escape from there?
is that all you have?? there’s going to be
4 blocks of 40 storey condos ,300 units
3 blocks of 9-11-storey shop& office suites
and 2 blocks of 21 storey office building
ALL ALONG persiaran tropicana!
stop being childish , no matter how rich you are, these developers can do wonders.
I learned from some property sifu’s blog to buy completed property, rather than uncompleted property, so that I won’t get surprised when new developments arise next to my property. And yet, when I bought AD on secondary market, 4 years later, I get Ara Hill springing up right next to me. Now it seems, other high rises will spring up around me. Either I will come to accept it after some time, or will need to start looking for another refuge.
Cheers!
Ah! the cat is now out of the bag. Since there is already a big party at Persiaran, why don’t you let us join the fun? I am a believer in the Theory of Least Resistance so why not let nature takes its course?
Childish? Hmmm… yes, I agree some developers have very strong muscles but if they think they can bulldoze their way, they better wake up.
It’s very irresponsible on Sime Darby’s part to release parcels of land to other parties. Yes, I know it is within their right, bla bla bla but they should have developed Ara Damansara themselves in totality or at least, tried to control the development. It’s no wonder people are flocking to Setia Alam and Setia Eco Park for this reason.
Since when was Ara Damansara marketing as the “new Sri Hartamas”? When I bought my house in 2001, Ara Damansara was unheard of. Driving back home those days required me to make a U-turn at the airport roundabout, and I had to take the dark narrow road (the one made famous by the discovery of the murdered woman) to come into the development proper. Breakfast was a choice between the 2 coffee shops in Taman Perindustrian Jaya (way before any of the current shops were even built).
Time for me to move.
@_
It’s all cronyism, which developer cares about responsibility?? I’ve considered shifting there as i have invested in a few units but its really far. There’s a lot of development there too, i wonder if there will be jam there in the future..
