The authorities should immediately step in to stop the tussle between residents in Ara Damansara and Tropicana over the link at Jalan PJU1A/1 to prevent the issue from escalating.
Former Subang Jaya assemblyman Datuk Lee Hwa Beng said the elected leaders should have asked the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to continue building the road.
“If they do not ease the tension now by doing something, they’re promoting something that is harmful to our social harmony,” he said.
The link between the two housing estates was left uncompleted since 2004 when the Tropicana Residents Association filed an injunction to keep the link closed. The injunction was lifted when the Tropicana tunnel was completed last year.
In November 2009, Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim had asked for the link to be opened and Petaling Jaya mayor Datuk Mohamad Roslan Sakiman had instructed that the link be opened by February this year.
The link is also one of the 17 traffic proposals approved by the council and endorsed by the state government to improve traffic flow in Ara Damansara and Lembah Subang.
However, the developer stopped constructing the road recently following a court injunction.
Ara Damansara residents then took matters in their own hands and opened up the gravel road for use as a much-needed alternative to the other choked-up accesses such as the FAS and Megah Mas tunnels.
Within days, the developer had dug up a trench and unloaded a huge pile of sand to stop motorists from “trespassing into the construction area”.
“Pakatan must realise they are in power in Selangor and should use MBPJ to solve the Ara Damansara-Tropicana link rather than to support lawlessness,” Lee tweeted.
“Why must MP Sivarasa and MBPJ councillors take part in a demonstration in the Ara Damansara-Tropicana link when there is an injunction? It is lawlessness,” he said.
Subang MP Sivarasa Rasiah’s aide Peter Chong said their stand had been to open the road as instructed by the mentri besar.
He added that the authorities would not take action against the developer now for blocking the road because it was more important to ensure that the stretch can be opened as soon as possible to ease traffic congestion in the area.
Meanwhile, councillor Khairul Anuar Ahamad Zainudin said the MBPJ had instructed the developer to complete the construction of the road by the end of September.

See how politician twist the words to gain political mileage! Does the above pic anywhere looks like a demonstration? Maybe I need to send him a dictionary.
Hmm… I also don’t like the comment about “tussle between residents in Ara Damansara and Tropicana” as Tropicana RA has already written to us about their willingness to assist us in getting the link open. Hope this won’t create any problems with Tropicana as our fight is not with them. How come D Idaman (the real culprit) is not mentioned ? And… are we behaving in a “lawless” manner ??
Also, who wrote this article for the Star ? Was Mr Lee even at the site ? Hmm… hope they don’t turn this into a negative political issue
YK,
Pls send him yr thick dictionary…I will credit him enrich mileages but not political one
Firstly, this Mr. Lee Hwa Beng needs to get his bloody facts right. Ara Damansara residents DID NOT take matters into their own hands to open up to road. The road was left open by the contractor after stopwork. Secondly it was non-ara damansara residents who dug up the road without putting in signs or warning to prevent the public from using the road that was left open.
Anyone has this hwa beng’s email or blog so that we can flood his in box or blog with accurate information?

It will be interesting if anyone know where Mr Lee Hwa Beng stays… I wonder where is he coming from, politician or resident?
For your information Mr Lee Hwa Beng stays in Tropicana.
This Lee Hwa Beng fellow sure tweets like a twit. Talk before finding out the facts.

He’s defending himself as “misquoted”.
What’s new? isn’t this a std practice of politicians when events turn against them? I am surprised he didn’t mention a misquote on demonstration. He should do that too.
