STRUCTURES at all gated and guarded communities in Petaling Jaya will be dismantled if residents fail to heed Petaling Jaya City Council’s (MBPJ) directive to lift boom gates between 6am to midnight.
“This is a guideline set by the state and we have to abide by it.
“If residents do not comply, then we will be forced to take action,” said city mayor Datin Paduka Alinah Ahmad when contacted.
She said residents would have to first submit applications to MBPJ to register their gated and guarded system.
She said MBPJ would then ensure that their structures are positioned correctly and not obstructing traffic.
Once approved, residents must follow rules and lift their boom gates at the specified time everyday.
“We will resort to legal action if residents continue to ignore our warnings,” she said.
This includes gated and guarded communities not registered with MBPJ.
Based on MBPJ records, only 18 out of 181 residents associations and Rukun Tetangga have applied to set up guard booths.Share on Facebook
